    Kitchen/Cabinet help in Pittsburgh

    Hi,

I am trying to help my father with a kitchen renovation in Pittsburgh, PA. The problem is that I live in Richmond, VA. I have some hard copies of a design and layout that was done a few years ago by some firm (I do not know if I have that name in the humongous folder) and by far, the cabinet costs were overwhelming.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good kitchen design firm or cabinet maker/sales group that you would recommend. I would like to shop the basic design around to see where we can cut costs and maybe get some standardized instead of customized cabinet sizes, that kind of thing. I am having a hard time getting started on this without living in the area.

Any help and recommendations would be appreciated!

I think HD or Lowes kitchen cabinet section will do that for free if you bring in dimensions. They did that for one of my neighbors.

You might see if you can locate some custom home builders in his area and see if they have any local manufacturer recomendations.

Contacting the original designer might be worth a shot too, explaining the cost situation to see if anything can be 'value engineered'.

I know a really great cab' guy here in Pittsburgh - he is pretty reasonably priced, but he is a bit slow. So, if your father is not in a hurry, I would highly recommend him.

If you are interested, shoot me a PM.

My father lives in Wexford, nearby Kaelin's and Orchard Hill Park. That is not to say that we would be against getting cabinets from, say, Monroeville, if the costs were reasonable. Thanks.
