Been rebuilding a front porch (what started out as just replacing the floor) and ran across a tip on the Internet that really worked super. Instead of painting/rolling a stain/preservative on both sides and edges of the new 1 x 4 boards, take a 10 ft piece of plastic gutter using ends on both ends, pour a bunch of the stain into it and dip the boards. I set it up on some sawhorses, nailed some boards outside the gutter for stability, dipped them, and then set them on the sawhorse. My helper (LOML) wiped down the top and then laid them on the porch joists to dry.
Was able to do about 150 boards in a little over 2 hours.
