    Low VOH stain on T1-11

Well, you might recall the later part of this thread. I ran out of the old solid color, oil based Cabot's stain and had to finish with the new **crap** that they're pass off as stain. Pretty thin stuff, naturally, but even the density of the color was poor. It took faaaaar more of the stuff than it did of the oil based (I covered 2/3 of the garage wall with the old oil-based and the remaining piece took all but a gallon of the acrylic - ) and the result isn't very good. Now, I have four gallons of custom-mixed acrylic that I'm going to hate to put on my house or garage. I hope that your're right about the return of low VOC oils, Mike! Just an update.
    Blessings,
    Chiz

I've installed quite a bit of T-1-11 around the house since I built my shed after hurricane Wilma. I was tossing the idea of stain VS paint. I haven't found a stain, either oil or water based that will survive like paint will. So, I used the same acrylic latex as our house color and trim. So far I'm real happy with the way it looks and how it's holding up.

How many years are on your paint now, c.man. And, what brand are you using?

Going on three years now. It is Behr (HD) Premium Plus Exterior. I used Glidden Gripper as a primer, not the Behr brand.

Lets hope it is soon, otherwise I will just buy oil based through my work account or the painting contractor I know. I perfer using oil base paint vs oil base stain on t111.

BTW.. my favorite oil based gym floor finish is now a 275VOC. 5 years ago it was a 450. They are making strides.
