CCA/Pressure treated lumber, age before staining?

How long does this stuff need to age before staining? (outdoor porch)

Neighbor asked me today, and I don't know (where I use it, it doesn't get seen).

    Thanks
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

I was told to allow 6 weeks before painting when I bought my prefab shop. Stain may have a different wait time, though.

It depends on how green the wood was and the moisture content. Green, soggy PT is a royal pain to deal with.

I just usually wait until it's dry. The "green" may dissipate with exposure to light. It may still be "green" when dry. How long it takes to dry out depends on how thick it is and the exposure you give it.

And how much rain you get since installation, if exposed to elements. Replaced 4 boards on my deck 3 weeks ago and we've been having rain of some type since then. At this rate, may be end of the summer before dry enough

Finally got some nice weather over the weekend and stained the new boards. Took the stain nicely and looks good. Ended up putting on 2 coats. Wood seemed plenty dry enough. That part of the deck is in the sun for most of the day, when we get it. So it was about 4 weeks from installation to staining.

How long to wait depends on weather, where you are and size of stock. I've painted 1x and 2x2 in as little as two weeks in July in NC. On 2x4 and larger I wait a month.
