Wireless Smoke Alarms

Having filed a building permit for a bathroom remodel, I have to update my smoke alarms. It's probably a good thing. I need least one hardwired AC one. I looking at wireless alarms from Kidde and First Alerts.

Anyone have experience with these?

I use 4 wireless smoke alarms. No smoke or fires yet, just a beeping when there's a low battery. I'm supposing when the forces at the building department have their chance to require a wired alarm, like doing a remodel, is when they can be enforced.

Have used both brands in my home and apartments. Can't say that one is better than the other, at least nothing noticeable. Usually, if I'm replacing one, I look more at the footprint size to replace what had been there, as I don't want to have to repaint around one that is now smaller.
I find the biggest problem to be using one near the kitchen as they can get greasy from the cooking and need to be replaced from time to time.
