    Vinyl Fascia Question

I bought THIS VINYL FASCIA to install on the fascia boards around the roof line. I'd like to paint it to match the trim. Would like to use the same latex paint. The vinyl isn't smooth, but rather it has a slight pattern. Is this stuff paintable and will exterior latex stick? Does it have to be primed first, if so, will a latex primer work?

If you don't get an answer here, give GP a call. I was going to paint some of the lattice they sell but the mfg said it is polyethelene and won't take paint.

I agree that calling them will be your best bet. HomeTime did a show on using this type of material for a porch & they painted some of it but I'm sure it's manufacturer specific. Here is Georgia Pacific's number for their building products.

Sherwin Williams has vinyl certified paint for exterior use. it's not so much if it will stick but how much heat the paint adds to the material when in the sun, vinyl moves alot according to temperature. make sure you read the installation instructions for the facia, vinyl trim has to be installed using specific instructions otherwise it will buckle and splint and generally look bad. they often recommend a special glue for any corner joints.

I used vinyl fascia once and was surprised at how much it moved with temperature. I used little brads to hold it up and it would bow up between the fasteners. I would use as few as possible (or switch to aluminum).
