Its been a while since posting progress pictures but we are still building. The newest development is that we have hired a carpenter (professional type). This has been the best decision we have made. Our progress has increased dramatically since making this decision, probably by a factor of 3 or 4.
As we all know there has been a downturn in the housing market so there are a lot of "out of work" tradesman, at least in our area. We were quite lucky to find the guy we have. Works like a dog and his work is excellent.
First pictures are the garage. Passed roofing, shear wall and framing inspection. Tomorrow we pour the 4" concrete slab on the floor of the garage. (Praying it doesn't fall down the hill)
We now have another 6 months to complete, shouldn't be a problem.
Second pictures are of the house. We have just begun to build the cripple walls to bring the foundation up to the first floor level. The carpenter accomplished what you see in the picture in 2 1/2 days (we helped of course). It now looks like finishing this year is a real possibility. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures.
