    Plumbing Question

We just installed a new Delta kitchen faucet. It's the single handle pullout type. It's also a center mount style which means that there is only one hole through the counter top through which both supply lines run. Installation was quite easy except for fitting my overweight body under the sink. Now that it's installed we can't get the spout to rotate from side to side to direct the water flow in the sink. You have to pull out the end of the faucet to direct the water flow. Delta online help tells me that you should be able to rotate the faucet and that maybe an o ring was out of place on the faucet stem. I took the entire faucet apart and could find no problems with o ring or any other parts.

Has anyone else run in to this and what did you do about it?

    Thanks in advance for help!!!

Is it possible that you overtightened it when installing? Did it swivel fine before installation and it was only after you were done playing contortionist in the cabinet that it did not work properly?

There's often a small grub screw (round the back of the spout) that locates the swivelling part in a groove. If that's too tight, it won't swivel.

There is also usually a spacer (1-2") at the bottom that keeps the rotation mechanism free. If that wasnt there then you would be only attaching the fixed part of the faucet. Its really tough to tell without seeing it, any photos, part numbers etc.

Jon asked a great question - did it swivel before you installed it?

Johnmulzer: Thanks for the timely reply. We didn't even think swiveling until after all was installed. I think I must be missing a part that would allow side to side rotation.

Ray Thanks for the timely reply. I checked last night and there is no grub (set screw). I was hoping it would be an easy fix with something like that.

Pool Thanks for the timely reply. We didn't even think about rotating it before I started the install. I don't have a photo yet but will try to take one tonight. I've gone over the installation instructions and can't find where I've left anything out. With the center mount style you don't use the elongated base on which I think the faucet would be able to rotate. I had accepted that maybe this faucet just won't rotate with this type of installation and I would get one that would when it's replaced. Then I emailed Delta and they tell me it should rotate.

              Thanks again for replying!!
