    Vanity Top measurement

I'm remodeling a master bath with new everything. The vanity will consists of 3 base cabinets, 2 at 30" and 1 at 18" for a total of 78". It will be between a wall and linen cabinet from the same cabinet company.

A installer came out to measure for the cultured marble vanity top. He made a comment that the cabinets have a 1/4" "overhang", so he was going to order the top to be 78 1/4".

Doesn't sound right to me. Any advice?

    Yup, he's correct.

I used to design kitchens & baths for Home Depot. Besides measuring, he makes a template (if he's not using a stock size), and signs the measure. This is to insure that if he's wrong, you won't eat the top,he will.

Did the installer explain the 1/4"? IOW, are the cabinets faced framed, and is there overhang of the FF on both sides of each cabinet, or when the cabinets are screwed together to get the 78" will the dimension be 78 1/4"?

I'm not picking up on the 1/4" measurement. How did he derive that?
