    long bolt for deck?

Can anyone please tell me where can you get cheap long bolt for constructing deck? The price from BORGs is just too much. The length I need is around 8". Thanks!

You could try using threaded rods, come in 36" lengths, cheaper than bolts. Then nuts and washers on each end. Any hardware tore or any BORG.

Tractor Supply is where I look First. You need galvanized or coated.
I have seen the hole drilled out and fitted with a pvc sleeve so the bolt does not contact the wood. The guy who did it was a nut but it might actually work if you have to go with threaded rod.

Just make sure this isn't a prelude to a "Deck collapse kills 3 students" type story. Cheap is well and good, but deck hardware should last decades so don't pick something that'll fall apart in a few years. For galvanized lag screws Menards and even the local Do it Best Hardware are about 1/4 the cost of Home Depot. I haven't looked for stainless since all of my use has been with non-pressure treated lumber...

I'll second theboltdepot.com recommendation. At a decent quantity, it is actually cheaper INCLUDING shipping. And they have a bunch of fun "I could use that eventually" type of items.

I always get stuff like this at Menards. Their nuts and bolts are always way cheaper, and they have 12 and 16 packs, as well as boxes of 50. It seems when I go to HD, or Lowes, I have to buy them from the "one at time" bins - which always adds up.

Just find out that the boltdepot.com is located in MA, and is just 20 miles from my home. I can pick it up instead of shipping, but have to pay tax.

We use Fastenal for our bolts and fasteners

Good stuff reasonable priced and usually one in most communities

Of course you can use their online version but the price isn't as good since the local stores can control "deals"
