One of my neighbors had one of those Mantis tillers. I used it once but I didn't like it. The tines spun really fast and unless the dirt is somewhat loose it just bounces around a lot.
My brother has a front-tine Crapsman tiller. I usually borrow it when I need something. I much prefer a bigger tiller like this to the teeny ones. The bigger ones get down much deeper and they don't pulverize the dirt into dust.
If I were you I would rent a tiller for an hour. For a 10x10 plot you probably only need it for 10 minutes.
