    Insulation vapor barrier question

I am insulated a new wall between two rooms that will both be heated. Should I use kraft faced insulation? If so, what side does the kraft paper go on? Does is matter? Or should I be using unfaced insulation in this situation and no vapor barrier on either side? Thanks. - Kevin

Vapour barriers are only for exterior walls. If both rooms are heated there would be no point in using one.

Insulation for sound purposes would be the only reason to do so.

If both rooms will always have the heat on, there is no need to insulate the wall. Unless you want it for a sound barrier. You do not need a vapour barrier at all in this case.

Thanks for the replys. I neglected to mention that this insulation is for sound. I will go with unfaced batts to cut down on some of the noise travel. - Kevin

I take it you've already done the stud work but in case you haven't the best way to soundproof is as follows.

Use a 2X6 top and sole plate and stagger your 2X4 studs. Then you weave your insulation between them.

As for just insulation I'd just opt for unfaced as it'd be cheaper

With kraft paper, it isn't much of a vapor barrier anyway so you can use it if you want. The paper makes it easy to staple in place. Cut a few slits in the paper if you want. Unfaced is OK too, you just have to make sure it is a snug fit so it will stay in place.
