    Best deck waterproofer???

The back deck obviously had a pigmented stain applied in the past that has completely worn off. Good. I hate the look.

For the past 5 years I've been applying Thompson's.

Just wondering if there was any better non-stain waterproofing y'all would recommend?

About 30 years ago I built an 8' x 10' planked T&G #2 Southern Yellow Pine flatbed deck on a 1/2 ton pickup truck frame. It was gorgeous. The only protection I ever used on it was Thompson's Water Seal. I put a few coats on initially, and then recoat every 3 - 4 months. That bed lasted me 16 years up to the time I got rid of the truck. No complaints.

I did a little research for you and ran across this stuff. Might be worth the read.

2 brands recommended by Consumer Reports for most decks: Cabot and Wolman
      For the natural look, Olympic.

I really like the deck sealer that sherwin williams sells. it's easy to apply and lasts 6 mo's to a year if you are the type that has to keep the water beading. it will last for 2 years protection wise.

I used MFG sealants before and it laster 5 years on a pressure treated deck that received about 8 hours of sun per day. It's a little pricey but it works and I beleive that they sometimes have free shipping.

I've used Cabots, Olympic (pre Lowes) and Sikkens, and although the Sikkens is a little more pricey, I think it works best in the extreme humidity of the northeast and cold of winter.
