    Counter Progress

Well after screwing up last week's pour, here are pics of the fixes. This is one of the risks of a pour in place - fixing concrete is messy and the mess is in your kitchen. I hung plastic from the crown and made a little room I worked inside.

It contained the splatter to the area but you can see it on the wall behind the work. I ground down the screwups and patched. After final sanding this week we will run a final coat to even the color out. The first pic is the form to patch the edge - when I took the form off last week it pulled some edge with it.

You know Davey, ... I'm sure this is gonna really look super when you're finished but.... with the time spent I'm not sure you've convinced me that this is the way to go when I re-do my kitchen this year. I've got the feeling that granite tile may be alittle faster. Looking forward to seeing it completed. Pat

      Pat,

Granite probably would be faster. Certainly it would be for just one person.
If I had this to do over again, I'd either form and pour all at once or wait for warm weather and pour in forms outside, then get a crew in for a day to help install the counters. In the end it would take about the same amount of time but it would be less frustrating.

Among other things, any screwups could be dealt with outside. The acommpanying mess and noise would be out there and I would not be losing a few hours on a Saturday and Sunday to my daughter's naps.

That said, I am not sorry at all I did this. I learned a great deal working through these problems and I got a new tool so that is always good.
