Cutting Roof Sheathing in a Confined Area

A friend just found that the roof sheathing on his barn was not left open at the peak and therefore the continuous ridge vent is accomplising very little. He is looking for a way to saw off 1-2 inches of plywood sheathing along both sides of the ridge from the inside. This is a somewhat confined area to cut since you will be working between the roof rafters. He's trying to avoid removing the ridge vent and cutting the sheathing from above.

Only thing we can come up with is a rotozip. Neither of us has ever used one so I don't know if this is a feasible option. I suggested a sawzall but he's afraid of cutting through the sheathing and cutting the shingles. It would also be tough to get a shallow enough angle for the sawzall between the rafters.

    Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance for any replies!!!!!

Remove the ridgecap and do it the right way (and probably the only way).

Take Larry & Hellrazor's advice, do it right take the ridge cap off. It's safer to do it from the top, you'll be able to see what you're doing.

I know four's a crowd but the guys are so right because:
        1) he will be up in the attic
        2) possible damage covered above
        3) gravity when he's cutting the dust particles will be right in the face
        4) it's so much easier from above that it will be quicker even counting the time to pull the ridgecap

If you manage to open the sheathing betwen all the rafters with a RotoZip, sabre saw, or any other tool without damaging the ridge cap it is going to be less than efficient.
