I will soon be siding this house and I am not sure what to do with the awning supports. I built this awning over the doorway last year and just put up these angle supports made out of treated wood. I really don't want to cover all of that wood in aluminum the way it is now. I was thinking of reworking it so that only the diagonal piece is showing. I can use a joist hanger on the wood siding to support the bottom of the diagonal and that will be covered by the vinyl siding and J-channel. And, I could cut the horizontal piece into the trusses above and that would be covered by the soffit.
That would only leave the diagonal piece to be covered with aluminum.
What do you all think?
Thanks in advance!
