    Question for plumbers

I am trying to locate as best I can describe it, a 3" PVC sanitary tee w/saddle. I am installing a commode and lavatory in a shop area and need to connect to a vertical 3" line. I am leary of cutting thru the line and installing a convention fitting since I do not know IF or how well the pipe is supported upstairs. I don't want to have it drop done a few inches and break a connection. The only one I can locate in my area is a 4" fitting.

Does anyone know if a 3" and a 2" are even available?

    TIA

If the stack is PVC all the way through, you should have no problem. Go to HD, and pick up a couple 10' sections of 3" PVC pipe. If you think you can endure the weight for 10-20 seconds it'll take to get the fitting in place, you should be just fine - just get someone to help you get the fitting on.

Uh, check local codes. In some areas 4" is minimum for a commode.
      But I've been wrong before.

Note -- I'm assuming some length of the vertical pipe is exposed here:
To solve the support of the weight of your stack, get a hose-clamp (radiator type) and attach a bracket of your choice to the pipe temporarily. Then attach a temporary wooden brace to the bracket that's either supported from the floor, or attached to the wall studs. Voila, cut the pipe and work on it to your heart's content.

Just remember to not let anyone flush upstairs. LOL

I wish it would have been 4" but apparently 3" is legal here.

I already had an ideal similiar to mdutch. I have access to enough of the pipe and will make a clamp to support it when doing the install.

        Thanks
