    Nipple extraction redoux

No answers necessary. I just thought I'd thank everyone for the suggestions. I almost got to the hammer point.

    Here's what I did, if anyone's interested.

One hour or so with a mini-hacksaw. Two cuts, removed a half inch section with minimal (I hope!) damage to threads. A couple shots of WD40. Let it sit overnight. No particular reason. Just tired of messing with it. Got the nipple to rotate a half an inch or so back and forth. Alternating a center punch and flat head screw driver as levers I finally got the remaining part to rotate a full revolution. Stopped for a Guiness draught. Drank to my success so far. No tile damaged. Threads still good.

Second revolution with the different levers. Used the two seperately depending on the angle and how much bite I could get on the nipple.

After the third revolution I was able to turn it all the way out with my finger. New shower arm and head installed and tested. So far . . . no water in the dining room directly below the shower.

I think the suggestion which stressed patience (something I can be short of) was the best suggestion. Never could get the extractors to work.

Again, thanks to everyone who responded. I think I used a little of everyone's advice.

I realize it is too late now but for future reference.....
When I have a questionable threaded connection like that or if the connection is plastic threads inside of metal threads here is what I do.
I use a stick type plumbers putty and rub a light coating over all of the threads. Then I use about 3 or 4 wraps of teflon tape. Then a second light coating of the putty stick. I never have plastic threads leak when I do this.
Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?

Thanks Salty. If the dining room ceiling starts to stain or sag Ill try the fix.
