Where to buy Corian or solid surface?

I want to replace my bathroom counter top. I like the look of Corian but not the price. I would like to build my own top but can't find any place that sells it unfinished.

    Any ideas?

Anyone have experience working with it?
    Thanks again,
    Mike

Not sold to the general public.

Officially, these materials are not available for sale direct to the consumers. You have to hire the work out to an authorized dealer.

Unofficially, you may be able to find a shop that will sell you a small quantity "under the table." I've heard of this happening, but usually only with small scraps that aren't large enough to use for a c'top or backsplash.

I don't know where you could buy unfinished corian but you would probably need to get it locally due to the weight. It would seem to be quite a difficult project and not cost effective unless you have the equipment and skill to handle such a project. Cutting and polishing corian, especially large piece, is not a DIY project.

Made me jump the gun here

You can buy it and over the internet too but its not raw per say and still expensive. I'm in the middle of a kitchen make-over and wife just had to have Corian. Two estimates of over 2400.00 later for just 2 straight sections 17' in length had us looking for other options. I found this place on the net.

          [url]www.solidsurfacekits.com.

Ran by really nice guy named Duane...lucky for me he's in Irving,Tx so I was able to drive and pick up the stuff. It cost me about $1400.00 to get 2 10' sections home including the 2 tanks of gas to get there and back so I saved about a $1000.00 there...well SWMBO says $800.00 cause I dropped $200.00 at Rockler while I was down there....oh yeah and I just had to have the Ridgid 6" ROS to finish the stuff with too of course!!

Its real messy cutting it but nothing hard about it. I'm taking the 2nd week in April off to finish the kitchen and I'll post some pics...If you have any specific question you can sure e-mail me and I'll try to answer them or post them here.

I haven't dealt with either of these, but in my bookmarks I have
            http://stonewood.safeshopper.com/5/cat5.htm?846.
They sell Corian cut to size up to 15" x 72". I'm sure the size limitation is to discourage the uncertified from making countertops with it; it's probably dictated by Dupont.

Figuring someone must have gone after the DIY solid surface market by now, I googled up
            http://www.easyfabcountertops.com.
If you don't insist on the Corian brand name, they sell EOS brand solid surface material, but only in 30" x 10' sheets.
