Anyone - Mid-Level Gas Ranges for Kitchen

My old (did I say old?) gas range has given up the ghost. I fixed it oncst already, fuse holder thing, its on the fritz again. Wife does a lot of cooking, and considers herself a bit of a gourmand, so its time to get a ncie range.

Anyone with any experience in the mid-level ranges? Like GE Profile, Kitchen Aid stainless series, Kenmore Elites or Bosch/Siemens ranges? I think we're looking in the $1,250 to $1,750 err...range for a range. Wanted to go slide-in, but kitchen remodel hasn't even been started, so will go with a freestanding. Can't afford the high-end stuff like wolf, viking, etc. but think these can give us most of those features at a swallow-able price.

We like the convection, and think we want a warming drawer, but maybe a double oven, although wonder if we'd really use the double oven feature. Also, anyone experienced in duel-fuel (gas top, electic oven). They're a bti pricier, but we hope to keep this thing for a while. And while we're not wired for a dedicated 20A circuit to the range, a few hours Saturday morning and I can get her wired no problem.

    So, any insights, etc. apreciated.

    I have this one.

We had it a couple of years and like it very well. The convection feature is quite nice and really speeds cooking time, plus seems to make the meat juicier.

Seems like I paid just under $1100.

I've had the GE Profile in black for 2 years now and absolutely love it.
the front POWER burner is awesome as is the rear TRUE SIMMER burner.
Ours has the warming drawer and gas convection oven. Really like convection.
Oven fuel boils down to personal choice although some say gas doesn't cook as even...I disagree.
What I really watched for and sold me on this one was the oven size (Kitchen Aid was really small) and the solid top for claening.

We have a double oven from Maytag. I think they only make electric ones though. We use the smaller oven the majority of the time (heats faster, uses less energy for small stuff, and can toast). It's also nice if you're cooking things at two different temps. Unfortunately, the price runs near the upper end of your budget.

is the 2006 version of what we've got. I found prices to be about 250-300 less than MSRP. They added a center oval burner which comes with a griddle as well. Mine doen't have that but it sounds pretty nice. The warming drawer is something we thought we'd use, but have only once so far.

The only other thing I'd say is that there are significant appearance differences from one brand stainless to another -- from a very silver to a golden silver. Further, some have the grain vertical and others horizontal. When I saw different brands together in a store display I decided that it'd drive me crazy, so both the fridge and the stove are the same brand/style.

I recently purchased one at sears

                http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...tanding+Ranges

It was dented on the side (who cares it's in between cabinets) and in their clearance area - We talked the manager down to $700 delivered!

The stove is awesome. It has 5 burners up top including 16200 and 14200 btu burners - same size or bigger then you will find on viking wolf etc.

The convection oven is great as is the warming tray. I also like one level grate for all the burners on the cooktop.

I matched it with the kenmore elite microhood and could not be happier.
