Need help on a little project

The lower part of my chimney flange raised up off the roof. Nails just pulled right up. I could just nail them back down but it seems to me they'd just pull right up again so I was thinking about using screws in the nails place. Is this OK or is there some reason why I shouldn't use screws. If it was any thing else I wouldn't hesitate to do this but I don't really want leaks and maybe screws would allow that. Any knowledge or advice would be appreciated.

Go ahead and use the screws and cover the heads with a dab of flashing compound.

You can also put a little flashing compound under the flange to glue it down.

I would do both of the above.

Thanks guys. I used both and looks good and water proof. Much better feeling with the rainly season coming up.
