    Hardwood supplier?

Has anyone dealt with Willard Brothers in Trenton NJ?

They are on the way to my Sister in Law's house so I'll stop in the next trip there.
    Thanks

Let us know how you make out there. I for one have been looking for a good hardwood supplier in this state.

I'll check them out and let everyone know but it may be a while before I get there. We may not see my SIL till the fall.

All I can tell you about them is that their prices seem a bit high. They price their lumber by the lineal inch, and the price for red oak works out to $6.00/bf for 3/4" x 6".

As a comparison, Hearne Hardwoods in Oxford, PA quotes 4/4 Red Oak FAS at $2.85/bf.

This is true Ken. The other differences are the $300 minimum order plus shipping if I mail order or app 3x the distance. Not to mention the convienent "Honey, since we are going to see your sister, could we stop since it's on the way..." trick. It seems strange to me the that here in the greater NYC area that there seems to be no hardwood suppliers. I do have a Lumber Liquator nearby but I don't have a vehical to haul a pallet load.
Ahh, my life is hard, isn't it.

P.S. I am drooling over the pictures at Hearn Hardwoods. Thanks for the tip.

There's also the question of rough vs. surfaced lumber. Hearne can surface lumber for you for $.10/bf/side. If you check here you can see their capabilities and prices for machining.

If you decide to visit Hearne, let me know. I live near Downingtown, so you'll have to drive right by.

              Bob,

Considering that you don't live too far from me (I'm in Rockland County), I always go to ML Condon in White Plains. 250 FERRIS AVE, WHITE PLAINS, NY 10603
              Phone: (914) 946-4111

They're a bit on the pricy side, but they don't treat you like dirt, they'll let you go through their supply (as long as you put the stuff back), they will joint and or plane to your specs for a nominal fee. All their wood is really in great shape, they have a huge assortment of both domestic and imported stock, some stock is S2S, some rough, and they will help you load and they have some really intelligent staff, most of the yard guys build stuff too.

The only down side is they aren;t open on Saturdays, but call and ask, they might have changed that.

Let me know how you make out

try Monteath molding, 3150 Bordentown Ave, Old Bridge, NJ,
www.monteath.com. I found them recently, used once ,seem reasonable and you select what you want from their stock.

Thanks vaking. I'll have to stop in there. It's on the way to my brother's house or the long way to see venerable Mom. Which is also the only chance I have to go to Loews.
