FWIW I'll mention that on Otter's recommendation, I used Seal-A-Cell for the first coat on my torsion box assembly table, followed by four coats of Arm-R-Seal for the finish coats. I buffed each coat save the last with 0000 steel wool, and ended up with a great finish.

I'm sure other manufacturers make oil/poly wiping varnishes that work equally well, but I was very pleased with these two products and will be using them again. (I'm pretty much a complete tyro when it comes to finishing so simple/easy/doltproof are high priorities with me.)

I went to Lowe's and found none of the suggestions - not that I'm surprised. By the look of the selection they are a parent company of Min-Wax. Anyway, I did see Deft products. Has anyone had any experience with them? Are they just a brush on poly? Any good? I haen't been happy with my previouse poly results so I'm lookin' for a new route. Ace hardware, here I come.

This really struck a chord since I've just started finishing a project. I usually set aside at leaast a week for the finishng process and I am impatient every step of the way. It usually turns out nice, but I sure woiuld like to see it in it's "spot" rather than the garage waiting another 8 hours for the next step.
