    Joinery for crown molding box?

Has anyone made a crown molding box? I was wondering what kind of joinery would be used. Is there enough meat in the molding for a biscuit? For instance.

    Thanks,

    Keith,

I'd think 45's glued up and maybe some exotic splines for strength would be plenty. That Titebond is some pretty amazing stuff!

I would agree with Keith. On you basic crown molding box simply gluing up the miter joints should provide you with plenty of strength.

Couldn't you also 45 a biscuit in there if you have enough depth and want to ensure the extra glue surface area?

bfrikken, that's pretty much the question that I asked.

An interesting question. I agree that a 45 glued would probably hold fine. A Coped joint would offer good glue area.
Contrasting colored splines might be interesting?
Th only Biscuit Jointer I have is the Royobi Mini and know that would work fine. I have built cabinet door casings as small as 1 1/4" and used them for that. Not as sure about full size Biscuits?

Now what I have been kicking around, and have not yet tried is through Dovetails? I`ll have to try that on scrap before I reccomend it.

I picked up the book but not the "True angle" at BORG awhile back.
