It sounds a little like those endless computer radial and dialog boxes that pop up when I tell the infernal thing to do something:
<Print image?> Yes.
<Print to file or Printer?> Print.
<Send print job to Epson 600?> Yes!
<Are you sure?> YES!
<Save changes before printing?> OH, FOR THE LOVE OF PETE; I COULD DRAW THE DARN THING FASTER THAN THIS ....

I've used Minwax Golden Pecan on a number of projects in Red Oak and Ash -- I love the color, it's light enough to bring out the beauty of the wood, but dark enough so that it isn't too "plain".
Here's a link to the page showing how we redid our stair railings last spring -- go to the very bottom to see the finished pictures (Red Oak with Golden Pecan stain and wipe-on poly):

How about any and/or all? I've done natural (which I like most of the time, easy care, and looks great), red oak, red mahogany, and they've all come out great. I personlly like Oak a lot.

This is just my 3rd project, and first out of oak -- there are so many beautiful results in this thread I may have to do a couple of more oak projects just to try them all out! Lol, so much for narrowing the choices...
Vinh, I really like your technique -- I'd never seen it before and it is beautiful. Do they carry die at the BORGs or is it more of a specialty item?
Thanks for all the responses...I feel just a bit wiser after reading this thread

Marc, thanks for the kind words. I just wish I had more shop time. I barely have enough time these days to browse this forum.quote:Originally posted by Mainemarc
But Vinh, somehow I've missed your website all this time. Fantastic. Bookmarked. A keeper. Beautiful design/graphics, excellent pictures, great writing and very inspirational. And great projects! I love the box, the jack plane and the sofa table. Thanks for sharing!
Tilt, I bought the dyes from Woodcraft. I doubt the BORG would have the same selection.quote:Originally posted by tilt
