    The BEST miter saw stand??

I have recently ordered a Bosch 4410 miter saw to add to my workshop. Can forsee the need to move the saw out of the shop from time-to-time and want to get the BEST stand available! About a year ago I read about the Ridgid MSUV being the stand of choice of knowing woodworkers. Is this still the case, or is there something else out there now that is better! Your suggestions will be appreciated, cautions welcomed too!!

    Thanks in advance, Ky Joe

The RIDGID is the one I would buy if I was looking for one.

I have one of the Ridgid stands. It is very stable, flexible in configuration and built like a brick outhouse. I recommend it.

Heard that the Ridgid is good, I have the Craftsman version (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00922237000) and like it fine.

Check the link below for a review of a VERY cool miter saw stand.

I love Bosch tools and really like the reviews on the NewWoodworker site. But at $100 more than the Ridgid I would have to pass. In fact, the Ridgid regularly goes on sale for $99 (got mine on sale last fall). My Bosch 10" SCMS looks very happy on a different brand stand, btw...

The Bosch is likely a good bit lighter than the Ridgid, but the weight can add stability so this is a draw. The Ridgid's extendable workpiece support rollers also double as repeatable cutoff stops (worked great for me recently), not sure if the Bosch does that. Finally, the little wheels would be of concern for me -- if you are just going between garage and driveway and it is smooth then it is no big deal. But the much larger wheels on the Ridgid provide significantly more stability -- important if you don't want to dump your nice miter saw on the ground...

Does anyone have a link to the Rigid stand?

              Thanks

                Sam,
The Ridgid stand is sold at Home Depot! You can find it by going to www.homedepot.com and look for tools and hardware, then going to saws! I copied the following when I went there but I'm not sure it will work if you try cutting and pasting!

I have the Ridgid stand. For the money it is a great buy. They had them for $149.00 for awhile.

but it depends on what you mean by "getting it out of the shop".

Thanks to all for links.....I guess I have to decide whether a unit for rolling around the garage is better or a something like the Rigid SUV that appears to be designed more for contractor/field use. Would appreciate any comments or even other links to view .

If you don't need the full mobility of the Ridgid MSUV, and would just wheel it around the shop if at all, consider building your own. The Popular Woodworking stand is quite nice (link above) and also the Ultimate Tool Stand has been built by quite a few members. It is like the Tool Dock meets DIY approach for the small shop, as most if not all bench tools can be used with it. I don't have a link, but you can search this site -- if you don't find a working link to the plans I saved them off and could e-mail them...
