    Bulk sandpaper

Where do ya'll buy sandpaper? On my last project, refinishing an old dresser to use as a changing table, the most expensive item was the sandpaper purchased at HD.

Amazon sells 50pcs of Mirka, not sure if that's a good brand or a good deal. Any other sources or brands I should look at?

Mirka is good quality in my experience, especially the gold. For refinishing it's hard to beat 3M, Mirka or Norton. Klingspors is one good source, though you can get the coarser grits of 3M Gold at Lowe's for a decent price in bulk. Industrial Abrasives, Woodworker's Supply and others offer a variety. Finally, don't neglect the auto body shops for the finer abrasives.

I don't use a lot of paper outside of ROS pads, but pretty much anything I buy is done when one of the stores (Rockler, Peachtree, etc) do one of their sales.
I have a little blog about my shop

I just bought a little tiny bit at a flea market near here.
        All of it Norton's.
        1 box of 100 sheets 80 grit.
        1 box of 100 sheets 120 grit.
        1 box of 100 sheets 150 grit.
        1 box of 100 sheets 180 grit.
        1 box of 100 sheets 240 grit.

All of it was $5..... It was Sunday and they didn't want to take it home with them.

It came in a box with some tiny brass hinges, (no screws so far), brass fittings and fixtures that look like doll house stuff and a Stanley 64 spoke shave. Along with a bunch of nuts, bolts and other stuff.

So my advice is to go to every yard sale, flea market and junk sale you can find.... it's amazing what can turn up.

I can't actually take the credit.... the wife made the deal and she's a lot better at it than I am.

I buy 95% of my sandpaper at the woodworking shows. There are numerous dealers there that have bulk sandpaper deals.

I got a package of woodworking oriented bouncemback cards this week. One of them was from www.supergrit.com in Gettysburg, PA. I haven't ordered from them, so ...

I have used both Industrial Abrasives and SuperGrit.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'll start shopping around. Should have mentioned in the original post, I'm using a ROS.

                    Sand Paper!

If You stop by Your auto supply store, They will sell it in smaller numbers. Also a paint store. I go to a local supplier of paint, They are the manufacturer of a paint line. I can buy all the paper I need. For My wet, and dry, The auto supply has gritts up to 5000. I know that I can get it online, but by the time I figure shipping, and cost. I can go to town. I was in the auto body bussiness all My life, so I am sure that it helps a bit also.
