    Hey 182, I do a fair amount of inlays (more marquetry, but still...), and I use a low angle block plane to get them close to flush, then move to a card scraper. Works great. I just have an inexpensive Stanley low angle block plane, but it's been a good worker for me. You can certainly spend more on a plane, veritas, lee nielsen, etc....

    I have some other planes, but honestly the only one that gets used regularly is my block plane. It's probably a good entry into the world of planes.
