How much is this lumber worth?

8/4 rough sawn (very rough) maple and mahagony. They're all about 12 inches wide. 3 pieces of maple (two are about 10 ft long, the other is about 6 ft). 1 piece of mahagony which is about 10 ft as well. All of them also have large cracks in the end between 6 in - 2 ft long and go the entire thickness of the wood.

EDIT: Here are some pics of the wood. He ended up giving me the whole pile.

I wouldn't pay more than about $2/bf for the Maple, the Mahogany it depends on which variety it is.

I would check with your local lumber yard and see what the going rate is near you. Depending on the condition I would think 50% or less.

Near me maple tends to be in the $4-$5 range. As RW mentioned Mahogany can vary depending on the type and quality. COuld be anywhere from $6 - $12.

I would certainly make sure you subtracted the areas that have the checks from the total bd/ft.

I guess the price depends on wether you selling or buying.

I just paid $7.48/bd ft for a nice piece of Mahogany (African Khaya), 1"X10".

I'm buying. It's the same place I got my plane from. He was asking $75 I think I'll ask for $60 (the cheap sob that I am) and get it. Hopefully he still has it, it was 3 days ago.

If they are the sizes you say that is 72 board feet of lumber. I'd pay him the $75 and run before he changes his mind.

I just did the same math. Go in there tomorrow, negotiate a little if you must but this is close to $1/bdft so just go for it its a great deal whichever way you look at it. The mahogany alone (20 bdft), even if average grade is worth the $75.
