Good book or plan for first chest of drawers

I'm looking for a good book or set of plans for a basic chest/dresser. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

www.craftsman.com has many hundreds of plans, according to the site info. I looked at one for a blanket chest. The plan is three-dimension, making it easy to understand how the parts relate. One page showed how to make efficient use of the material required.

Plans now also has down loadable plans. I've used a couple of their Mission plans and they are very well done.

I haven't used any of Norm's plans, but he has done a number of chests.

Even though it is your first case work piece, I recommend these two books to develop your design skills and construction knowledge. Although you could use them to design your chest of drawers from scratch, it's probably better to use them as a reference for construction and changes that you may want to make.

Illustrated Cabinetmaking, by Bill Hylton (I think that it is out of print, but is soon to be reprinted.)

While not a direct answer to your question, here are some Design Standards websites:

This site has good info on design. Look under the "Furniture Design Standards"
        http://www.woodbin.com/ref/index.htm
The info was first published by Wood Mag in 1986 and later in "Basic Woodworking Tips & Techniques" Here is the original section on chair design:
        http://www.woodmagazine.com/wood/sto...0121364296.xml

Click on each of the three headings in this link ...
        > Human Figure Average Measurements
        > Standards for Chairs and Doors
        > Typical Furniture Measurements
