    Cheap Dust Collector piping

I found a 4" drainage line at HD. The outside is white PVC and the inside is black HDPE. The dust collector fittings are a tight press fit. I used it to connect the blast gates directly to the 4" to 2 1/4" reducer adapters. Go glue required. HD has PVC fittings for this pipe in the $2 to $4 dollar range. A 10" x 4" pipe is $4.99.
The pipe is staticy but a ground wire should fix that. Its cheaper and lighter than standard 4" PVC and you dont have to customize the 4" adapter.
To adapt your dust collecter fittings to the drainage fittings just cut a couple of inches off the tube and press fit to the DC fitting. Then glue the cut sleeve to the drainage fitting.

Has anyone used this to outfit a shop for dust collection?

I have been looking at this product as I plan the final installation of my DC system. I have been contemplating the connection to the blower and how to build an adapter to attach the flex line where needed as well as the blast gates . . . got any ideas?

The pipe is a press fit on the black plastic blast gates. I cut a 3.5" section of pipe and pressed in a blast gate on one side and a reducer on the other. This way I keep 4" duct right up the saws.
I am just going to use a flex to flex union for pipe to flex or maybe see if the flex will fit over the PVC fittings if I cut off the cuff. I wouldnt recommend clamping flex to the pipe, its not rigid enough.
I was thinking about 45 degree fittings on the 2 DC ports to re-direct them.

I may take the dc port to the Borg tomorrow and test fit some of the pipe and fittings. I don't have any 4"flex yet so I cant do any testing on that . . . maybe in a week

I have the SD white pipe that you are taking about. It works great with my Jet 1200 DC. Especially with my home made blast gates. The flex hose fits perfectly inside the female end of the pipe. I just use clear silicone to permanently seal the flex pipe to the SD pipe. For smaller tools I install a 4" to 2/12" reducer on the bottom of my gates.

Beautiful blast gates, Scott! How did you cut those perfect circles?

Thanks. I did them with a circle cutter on the drill press. I would not recommend that as a best practice. I now do them with a template and my router.

The green 4" pipe fits good, too.

If you are after something like 5" pipe I found a source for PVC electrical conduit..

                  www.graybar.com

They have 5" SCH 40 PVC conduit for 1.79 pr ft
so about $18 pr 10' piece pn #88215688

                  5" 24 in raidus 90deg elbow sch 40 $10.67 pn #88215676
                  5' 48 in raidus 90deg elbow $20.15 pn #88055276

They also have 6" PVC tubing and large raidus elbows but I didn't price them.

You can also get 4" SCH 40 PVC elbows in 4",16",24",36",48" and 120" (wow) raidus 90deg bends.
There are also 45 and 22.5 deg bends.
I think these would be much better than those hard 90deg plumbing fitings.
