Panel clamp question

Anyone use or have the 4-way equal pressure panel clamps I've seen advertised several places? (Woodcraft, Rockler, etc.) The type where you use your own board that the ends of the clamp dig slots in the top and botttom and press into the sides of the project, exerting pressure on all four sides of the project. Was thinking of ordering some of these to assemble a bench top with and wondered if anyone else has had experience as to the effectiveness of the product.
