    Lumber - worth the drive?

Saw this in CL (for free). It's about 40 minutes from me. Anyone have a guess as to what type of wood? Is it worth the drive or taking up what little room I have left in the garage ?

We have about 20 wood planks that were either the backs or bottoms of some pews. The planks are covered in material that is stapled to the wood. The planks are 105.5 inches long and 19 inches wide. The wood is 3/4" thick.

I'm a sucker for anything free, so I would go get it. Worst case, I find some way to recycle it.

40 minute drive in L.A.? That must be just down the block...

You had better believe it...if it is free...it is for me! I'd get it in a heartbeat..
I take all the good lumber I can get and store it it my shed in the rack...may
not need it for a while...but when I do it is there and ready! eezlock

This sentence would be what COULD scare me away from this deal. Imagine the time and effort involved in removing all those staples *shudders*.

I'd probably not bother myself. I could imagine that its a plywood of some sort since it appears it is apholstered to be covered.

But if its solid wood, then it may still be worth it, if the staples are consistent enough on the edges, you could always rip the edges off.

And at 105" long probably not plywood.
