    link belt

How do I order a link belt for my bandsaw? I have the newer orange version of the Ridgid. Do I cut the current belt and then measure it's length? I would rather not destroy the current belt.

Don't cut it. Just measure it round with a tape measure or sewing tape. The link belt is sold in 1, 2, 4 foot lengths I believe so you will have to remove/add some links anyway. Get it close and adjust the tension with the adjustment on the BS.

Thanks Ken. Ill use that method. I actually tried to form it into a circle and measure the radius and calculate the circumference. Not easy to do. Every time I measured I got a different answer. I always tend to try the most complicated solution. I like the idea of the flexible tape measure. Thanks!

You can take a string / ribbon / etc around the belt then measure the length of the string / ribbon.

Using a string is also what i recommend, I used this method when I removed my ac from my car and needed to get a shorter serpentine belt. Works great.
