    Painters Needed!!!

I figure there are few well seasoned painters patrolling these boards.

I need the BEST glossy paint I can buy. Can't be semi-gloss or anything, has to be high gloss.

Can anyone recommend anything for me? Thanks.

I am painting MDF, used indoors.

I've had great results with Parker's Park Avenue oil base. I've been repainting all of my crown, baseboards, balisters, windows, and and a couple of eight foot columns with the stuff and it drys hard and is a very bright true white. It gives an excellent contrast to any wall color you pick.

The trick with using such a thick paint is that you have to have a very good brush (I use a Purdy two inch) and then three dabs of paint along a long line, blend it in, and then back brush the wet areas to make sure the brush marks are parrallel to the piece. They pretty much disapear but if you skip it you will see it!!! For a primer I've been using KILZ oil based and even though it smells terrible it dry's really fast and covers up perfectly for the main show.

I learned about this paint at a parade of homes show and tracked down what they were using on trim in $2 million dollar plus show case houses.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I don't want an oil paint. Can you perhaps recommend something else?

      Thanks.

If you are looking to acheive a gloss without a varnish or protective coating, try Benjamin Moore Impervex Latex High Gloss Metal & Wood Enamel or Sherwin-Williams ProClassic Waterborne Interior Latex Enamel.

          Use a waterbourne

Use a waterbourne finish. SW, Muralo and someone else makes it.

It's basically the hardest latex finish you can get. Muralo makes it in an ultrawhite.

Use a good primer, an enamel undercoater, maybe two coats, sand everything, caulk, and spackle, vacuum and tack it clean.

          and a good brush.
          Maybe...........

seal it then sand it smooth, primer it with a high build automotive primer then sand it smooth. paint with automotive paint, scuff then clearcoat it. then wetsand with 1000-1600 grit and buff. that is how to get REAL gloss paint with no brush marks etc.
automotive paint is catylized so you can paint and sand pretty quickly. it must be sprayed.
