Drill bits

I have been using some craftsman drill bits recently. They are the real cheap ones that come in like a 24 pack for 15 bucks.

I want to invest in some good ones that are going to last and that will cut clean holes. Can you guys let me know what the best brand is? thanks.

Do you mean regular twist bits that will drill holes in metal, or brad-point bits for wood only? If the latter, bite the bullet and get the 7-piece HSS set from Lee Valley. Sizes range from 1/8" to 1/2" in 1/16" increments, which covers most woodworking needs. This set won a many-brands bake-off in Fine Woodworking. A bit spendy, but a lifetime investment for most woodworkers and worth every penny of their $45 price.
