    Jersey Shadow Box

Does anyone have anywhere I can find plans and hardware for jersey shadow boxes? I could pretty much figure out what I need to do for the making of the box but I am looking for the hardware mostly. For instance, they use a clear acrylic bar that snaps into a mount for the hanging of the jersey. Also, I would like to find mostly UV protected glass for the door as well. I have a few jerseys I have that I want to display and protect. Thanks for the help.

i was going to do this project a couple of years ago, and stopped, mainly because i couldn't find the plexi for a reasonable price. i finally found a local glass shop with reasonable prices, but to get one big enough to hold a jersey it was going to be like 50$ also i wanted the back to have a complementing "velvety" panel, they sold those at micheals craft store and they wanted about 70 just for that.

perhaps i'll rethink it all if a good source gets mentioned here.

If you have to have UV, shop it around. You could do it in either glass or acrylic. A lot of mfgrs produce cases with standard glass. There may be a spray coating you could buy for the UV. As for the backing, I've done display cases with using "Homosote" board in 1/2" thickness. It's real light and accepts push pins, etc., and not expensive. You can modify a plastic hanger to form out the jersey and pin it to the backing. You can go to a fabric store and buy velvet or velvet type fabric for a couple of dollars a yard, and wrap the backing. As for the glass, you could get away with 1/8" double strength window glass, that stuff is inexpensive. But just for stability try to stay with at least 3/16".
