    U-shank jig saw, which?

I gave up on Skil's cheap model, but accumulated good u-shank Bosch jig saw blades. anyone have a recommendation for a replacement for this weekend woodworker that uses u-shank tip?

    thanks,

I thought Bosch is big on T-schank. I have 1587 (in Craftsman's clothing) - works well. People say that 1590 is even better but I got mine on clearance and the price difference was huge ($150 vs $30). I could not bring myself to pay that much more for latest model. I believe both 1587 and 1590 are T-shank models.

Freud says that their FJ85 jigsaws "Quick-Fix blade change system provides easy, tool-free changing of Bosch type blades." I would read that to be saying that the Freud jigsaw can use both Bosch T-shank and U-shank blades.

Bosch is big on the T shank, as far as I know they make the U style blades just for competitor's jig saws.

I don't think that I'd let some jig saw blades dictate which jigsaw I would choose. If you are going for a quality jigsaw, the blade expense isn't THAT huge in comparison. I have the bosch 1587 and have found that for most things I use the scroll blades. You can get them in a 5 pack at a reasonable price. It came with a nice collection of other blades, and I havn't warn them out yet.
