Difference between these router lift systems...

Hi folks,

'am about to build a dedicated router table for my Hitachi M12V router. 'am wondering which one would you recommend in these units:

1. Plungelift ($150): http://www.woodpeck.com/plungelift.html#145

3. Also, what is the disadvantage with going with phenolic systems such as (Total: 33+79+65=$177):

   • Router Raizer RZ1001 ($79): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...nDate&n=228013
   • Xtreme Xtension ($65): http://www.woodpeck.com/xtremextension.html

Basicall beween 1 & 3, looks like 1 is better... but what is the 'extra' one is really gaining between 1 & 2 ?

I have the Router Raizer with my M12V and it works quite nicely. Of the 3 choices you have listed that is the way I would go. #2 might be smoother but you would still have to get the $25 adapter for the M12V and the bit extender. Personally I would leave out the bit extender and get their $11.95 bent collet wrench instead.

I used the Rousseau plate in my router table when I first built it. Started with a Bosch 1617 and switched to the Hitachi. I then modified the table to accept the Plungelift for several reasons.

1. Above the table adjustment and bit changing
2. The stability of the aluminum plate
3. Better variety and ease of changing the rings

I didn't remove the springs on my Hitachi but am considering taking out the one on the 'free' post and keeping the one on the adjustment side to keep some tension on the adjuster.

Pappy or other: How hard is it for the not-so-mechanically-inclined to modify the Hitachi router per instructions from Woodpeckers?

Actually, the Woodpecker instructions say not to modify the router. My thought is that the srpring on the side away from the loft post is subject to cause some, if only slight racking of the router.

Assuming I go with this option, what else in addition to the plm12v package should I get for the Hitachi M12V router... Its unclear from the page...

It is a complete package as is and nothing else is "required". The insert template is a nice to have item, but installation can be done without it. I spent the extra $$$ on the full ring set and don't regret it. I didn't get the off set wrench but would recommend it.

I have the Phenolic plate from "Woodhaven" (I think it is) in my router table with a "Router-Raizer" for my Freud FT2000E router. It works great, and has full directions on hooking up to various routers. Also has probably everything you need for this included in the package. Or, at least mine did.
