My dad owns his own electrical business which I help him with often. The other day we were pulling large entrance wire on a wood spool. When we were finished with the empty spools I noticed the spools center was made of nice wood slats of what I thought was poplar. Came home and planed them down and it turns out I came home with around 50 4" x 24" solid oak boards that were about a half inch thick. The good news is I can get as many of these spools as I want, so I guess this is a gloat, but if you guys could find a local electrical wholesale house they usally cant wait to give the huge spools away.
