    Saying Hello!

    Hello!

I just wanted to say hello to all and introduce myself. As you can probably guess I'm new to the woodworking hobby and stumbled onto this site a few days ago, so I've just been taking things in. What a great resource, it's already helped me figure a few things out on what my needs are. I can do a few things here and there but want to learn more and just create.

Ok so that's that...now I'm going to go absorb as much as I can in these forums!

Welcome to one of the most civilized board on the 'net. Tell us about yourself — What tools do you own, what kind of woodworking are you interested in, etc.

This place is a great source for any info you need. Just ask and someone(s) will have an answer.

                        Welcome Mylo -

Glad to have you here, it's what makes this the best forum I've seen. No flamers, no ridicule, just people here who care about being good people.

Only a couple of "suggestions": Share pictures of what you make, operate as safe as possible, and don't be shy to ask.

Don't forget: Paint the red line!!!

Wow, thanks for the great response!

About me...Currently I'm a total rookie at woodworking but am not scared to learn. I have some experience but that was mostly building skateboard ramps when I was younger. So I can manage saws and drills and do minor house repair, but when it gets to be more than that I have a lot to learn.

I'm employed as a game designer and mostly do handheld games for the Nintendo DS/Gameboy Advance. It's a great job but not something I can see doing for the rest of my years.

Not much in the tool department right now, I have a jigsaw/drill/circular saw and will be buying a router this weekend..saving up for that tablesaw too! My first project is almost done, a folding workbench for my "shop" I figure that is the impetus for me to dive into this hobby. Once I get that done I'll find a nice small project to start out.

Right now I've been reading up on saftey and correct usage of tools, terminology and all that stuff I need to know before I plunge in.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!
