Laminate flooring and engineered flooring glue?

Can Laminate flooring or engineered flooring glues be used for other purposes? They got some at my local Lowes for 0.50 for a half gallon can of either. I don't plan on doing any flooring in the near future and just wonder if I could use this for something else at that price.

The Wilsonart stuff I had was just like white wood glue. Worked as well as far as I know, that was a few years ago

For .50, you really can't go wrong. If it isn't any good, you only lost .50 - if it is good you got a great deal.

        Hi M&M:
I would think it would be fine especially for gluing up sheets of MDF for workbench tops or particle board, you know building up thick panels from thin panels... I agree for the price you can't go wrong. I"m going to check out my Lowes to see if they are getting rid of it as well.

I remember reading somewhere that regular wood glue has a one year shelf life. How many galons of glue do you go through in a year?

I do primarily lathe work and I use at least a gallon a year.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to go get a can or two before it's gone.

Does that shelf life thing apply to unopened glue or just open glue?

that refers to time from manufacture date. if you store it properly you may extend that a little bit. store it improperly and you can cut it down considerably.

FWIW: most glues such as titebond I and II have a 2 year shelf life. when you consider the cost of hardware, wood, the new tool for the job, sandpaper, time not spent fishing and finishing supplies--even 10 to 15 bucks for a bottle of glue that will last a number of projects is a steal.
