What does " New Posts " at the top mean?

OK, I don't get it. What does it tell you? I thought I could use it to go into and just see the posts that have been posted since I'd been on the forum the last time but that doesn't seem to be what it's for so what good is it or what does it do?

At the bottom of the forums mainpage, there is a button called "mark all as read". Click that when you finish reading all of the threads, so when you log in next time, that number will be correct.

An easier way then going back to the main page would be to click on the "Quick Links" toward the top of the page. You'll get a drop down menu that has the "mark all as read" option.
