I haven't used my saw in a year - maintenance?

Hi, I haven't used my saw in a year. I want to now. Should I oil it somewhere or anything? Any other kind of maintenance? Thank you.

I live in Japan most of the time and come home to the US for a month each year. I have a BT 3100 in the States and a 3000 in Japan. A year goes by between uses for the US one. I just clean the dust off the table top when I get ready to use it, and it is fine.

I am in the States now and it will be close to a year before I go back. I don't think it will need anything special to get it going again either.

But still, good maintenance is like the old adage: "an ounce of preventative is worth a pound of cure".

Other than a general clean-up, the only thing I can think of is an Article that was written by Jim Freye containing advice for the periodic maintanence of the BT3000.

The same information would apply to the BT3100 as well.

Check for mice. A co-worker found Mr. & Mrs. Mouse had set up houskeeping in the body of his saw over the winter.
