    Ned suggestions for clamp storage.

I now have 2 X 2 on wall for clamps. As you have already guessed, they fall off. Space is somewhat limited. Thaks for any help.

I made wall cabinets with a rack for my pipe clamps across the bottom. That way I get to use the wall space above machines for the cabinets and the clamps hang down behind the machine, but I can get them out easily.
See the link below for a photo and more on the cabinet.

3/4" plywood with notches cut for the clamps. This has worked well for me but I'm quickly out growing it.

Thanks for the help. BlackWalnut, I like that one. Going to make. I have plenty of scrap wood that will work for this one. Thanks again.

Hellraiser, cheaper to make the rack over postage. Thanks anyway.

            Mark,

That idea is perfect for me too. I can just screw a notched piece of ply to the joists overhead.

            Golfmore,

DAMHIK, but make sure if you have any Bessys like Mark's, that the jaws are clamped shut with a little tension before you hang them. Otherwise that moveable jaw might fall and hurt something.

Marks idea looks good but my 2x4 screwed to the wall is working fine so I don't think I'll change. I wonder why your clamps came off a 2x2. If it is screwed solid to the wall, it should work.

Jim D, because the 48" pipe clamps wanted to lean into the wall, therefore wanted to slip off. And the wall has a door right beside where the clamps are, and when the door slamed shut, they moved. I like the new idea better.

I came up with a bunch of shelf brackets, the kind with the slotted rail and the bracket slots into the rail. I mounted those on one wall. All my long cabinet clamps lay across them very neatly. I can get 4 of my besseys on one set. I mounted some pegboard further down the wall. The long double hooks will hold two pipe clamps quite easily. For my shorter clamps, especially my quick release clamps, I simply screwedd a 2x2 to the wall and they clamp there. Ill try to add some pics tomorrow when I can get intot he shop

I store mine on racks similar to Mark's. They work well.

I made a double-decker version, which lets you store ~50% more clamps in the same space. The top rack is a 2x6, and the bottom is a 2x4. The slots are offset from top to bottom, and spaced out such that there's room for a clamp head on the lower rack in between two clamp bars from the upper rack.

I think this style of clamp rack is the best (safest) for this type of clamp, since you tend to grab the clamp by the handle, rather than letting that part of the clamp go crashing down.

Here's what I use for my pipe clamps. It's a bad picture, but it's essentially 2x4 blocks fastened perpendicularly to a 2x4 strip. The blocks are spaced just wide enough for the pipe.

                      Regards,
                      Tom
