The latest in my collection–The Box with No Name–I couldn't think of anything "cute".
The box is made of Black Palm, about the worst wood I've ever worked with. Its not really a wood, but a grass and I got more splinters from this one box than I recieved with all the others combined. The wood can only be cut and sanded. You can't plane it, scrape it, run it thru a thickness planner or a jointer. It just keeps on splintering.
The top insert is Black and White Ebony, another difficult wood to work. Mills wonderfully, but if you dont glue the parts together, after only 12 hours, it cups like anything.
Anyway, considering its taken so long to finish, I'm sick of looking at it and will post the rest of the photos later this week. And along with the photos, I'll let you guys in on the finishing.
