    More fun than skill

Had fun with some oversize drumsticks my son brought home from a competition.

I thought it was a good idea to get some use out of them as opposed to them leaning in a corner.

Dusted off the BT3k to make some mounts. (busy raising youngsters - haven't touched the saw in 6 or 7 years)

Laminated a couple 2x4's, bored holes same diameter as the sticks, then recut the 2x4's in half.

Not a huge undertaking - but fun none-the-less.

That is really imaginitative. When you said "oversized", you meant oversized! I like the idea of cutting that 2x4 in half to cradle the sticks.

Certainly keeps with the music room theme. Cool idea!

        Thanks!

The laminated 2x4s gave me enough girth around the circumference as to not blow out the wood when I was boring the holes. I could have made the mounts smaller - but feared splitting them once I started tightening screws.

I then doweled the sticks to the mounts so I wouldn't have to screw up the appearance of the front of the sticks.

I put wet paint in the dowel ends once they were in the door, then pressed the sticks to the dowels to show me where to drill. Worked flawlessly.

Very cool idea. Good thing he wasn't in a billiards competition.

Have to show those to my youngest. He's one of those guys that hangs out with musicians (AKA a drummer).
