Walnut transitioning to sapwood on the lower right. Whatever you make of it, remember walnut will bleach out from the sun. For the heartwood to stay dark, you need to use an exterior finish with a UV blocker.

Thanks guys.. Sorry for posting this in Finished projects.. Thought I was posting to project discussions. Guess I'm a bit wonkey this week.
I think Cabinetman has nailed it with curly bastogne walnut.
I agree a 4 way bookmatch would look great.. Sadly my bandsaw isn't up that that challenge.
I see my options as..
A couple small bandsaw boxes.
A plate or shallow bowl
Beg someone resaw it for me..
See of someone wants to trade me a stack of cool pen blanks for it.
