"Lucille". I dunno, just popped into my mind, like B.B. King's guitar.

Looks good bruce. Is the stone simply epoxied on? Was there a gap between the wood and stone? Did you have to fill it? If so, what did you use?

    Beautiful work Bruce.

    How about "Purple Nebula"?

    Really impressive work Bruce!

I would have named her "Waltzin' Matilda" ... all that Aussie influence.

I can't come up with much of a name other than "**** beautiful box!" Bruce each one is more beautiful than the last. I'd say you have reached master level. Your mistakes as you call them are so well fixed that they seem planned embellishments.

    Name this box

I finished this last week, but held off posting for lack of an appropriate name. I seem to find the naming part as much fun as building them.
So help me with a name (and no, we can't call it Fred or Alice). The winner will not get the box, but a credit inscribed on the box and also something nice.
The majority of the box is made from Bocote, with some Australian Sassafras for the top. The Sassafras is framed with ebony and holly.

It was suppose to be just Holly, but somehow my ruler lied to me and instead of remaking something, I just cut some Ebony to fill the gap. Whew, got myself out of that almost major screw-up.

The additional wood used is Maple, works great for the dividers and handles.

The stone inset (mortised into the top) is a slice of Agate and the piece was way less than I expected it to be.

I used two different widths of Brass inlayed into the face of the box, and Brusso brass feet for the box.

The fixed and sliding shelves are lined with rust colored suede.

Oh, and I may add a mirror to the inside of the top

Hope you guys like it, as my older daughter just moved into an apt with her boyfriend (one down and one to go), so the next project is going to have be a coffee table. BTW, I hate making big stuff, I really stink at it.

Happy Hurricane to all of you in the South East. They have already started to stop running the subways and most of the schools will be closed tomorrow.

Probably end up being nothing here in NY.

    Bruce
