    Long Overdue!!

I've been wanting to build some sort of rack to store my supply of extra lumber (mostly treated pine, and cedar). For many years I've just been piling it up under the deck. I'd straighten the pile every once in a while, but it was getting out of hand (to say the least; see first picture).

After thinking about it for a while, I decided to use a combination of landscape timbers and treated 2 x 4's to build it ie: nothing too fancy!

    Mrs is ecstatic

Here's the way it came out ---

I used a rolling scaffold that I purchased from Lowes similar to this one-

Out of sight, out of mind?

That is a definite improvement. Amazing how once it's nicely stacked, it
almost seems to shrink in size?

Now if I could just shrink the mess in my shop...

Looks pretty good, but I think I would add a diagonal or two across the side against the wall to keep it from racking. As time goes by, you can expect it to loaded up quite a bit & putting wood in & taking it out will cause a bit of lateral stress that will loosen up the joints.

Looks like it'll work well. You might consider moving it away from the wall a little bit (before you get it all loaded up) and sliding sheet goods down the back.

Looks dangerous though... in as much as all having the urge to to fill all that extra room up with more material.
